NFT REVIEW Blur Hit by Two Major NFT Attacks in Weeks, Raising Security Concerns

In the fast-paced and constantly evolving Web3 space, security has always been a top concern. However, recent events have highlighted just how vulnerable this emerging market can be. The latest incident involves the theft of high-profile NFTs on the Blur network by an individual known as “Fake_Phishing187019.”

Second Attack in a Short Span

This is not the first time such an attack has occurred on the Blur network. Just a week prior, a similar phishing incident involved the theft of 185 CryptoPhunks and 7,304 Meebits by the same alias. The severity and frequency of these attacks have left many in the digital art and crypto communities reeling.

Among the compromised collections are Mutant Ape Yacht Club and Moonbirds, both popular and highly-valued NFT collections. These stolen NFTs have raised questions about the security of these digital assets on the Blur network.

Public Disclosure by PeckShieldAlert

The theft was publicly disclosed by PeckShieldAlert, a leading blockchain security firm, through a tweet. This announcement sent shockwaves through the crypto community and sparked discussions about NFT security measures.

The methods used in this attack were sophisticated and included the use of ERC2771, a popular protocol for securing NFTs. This further highlights the need for stronger security measures in the world of cryptocurrency.

The stolen NFTs include 85 0XLBOTS and 152 CypherpunkZero NFTs, all unique and highly valuable pieces. Efforts are currently underway to track down and capture the individual or group responsible for these high-profile NFT thefts

Final Thoughts

As the investigation into these high-profile NFT thefts continues, it is important for individuals to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to secure their digital assets. This incident serves as a reminder that no matter how valuable or rare an NFT may be, it is still vulnerable to theft.

With stronger security measures and increased awareness, we can work towards a safer and more secure future for NFTs in the world of cryptocurrency. Let this be a lesson to us all as we continue to navigate the ever-evolving crypto landscape. So, it is essential that both creators and collectors prioritize NFT security in order to protect their valuable digital assets.
