NFT REVIEW NEWS STEPN Servers Once Again Crippled by Maligned DDOS Attack

Popular Solana-based move-to-earn application, STEPN, has once again found itself on the receiving end of malicious activity through a DDOS attack on its servers.

The incident occurred on June 5, when a huge influx of bot activity disrupted the network and prevented normal users from accessing the servers and participating in the game. As a result, STEPN advised its members to take a break from their incentivized exercise regime while they worked on a solution.

According to its own Twitter post, STEPN estimated the recovery to take between one and twelve hours. However, in the end, over 24 hours passed before they were confident in its stability. Hopefully, all is now well, and its members can get back out exercising again without further delay.

Over the last three months, STEPN has seen three such attacks to its network, each bombarding its servers with up to 25 million bots over a short period of time, causing significant problems for the Web3 lifestyle application. However, the motive source of the attacks remains unclear. Despite this, STEPN should assume more will follow, and take pre-emptive action.
