NFT REVIEW Sorare Releases Special NBA Draft NFTs

As anticipation mounts ahead of the upcoming NBA season, Sorare, the French fantasy sports game, is making waves with the announcement of five NFT auctions for Special Edition NBA Draft Cards. The first of these auctions, featuring the NFT card of player Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, took place on 9 July 2023.

At the tender age of 19, Wembanyama has already established an impressive career, playing the last three seasons at the French top professional level, clinching the title of the 2023 league MVP, top scorer, and defender of the year.

In the pipeline are card auctions of Brandon Miller (Charlotte Hornets), Scoot Henderson (Portland Trail Blazers), Amen Thompson (Houston Rockets), and Ausar Thompson (Detroit Pistons). Sorare managers will have the opportunity to bid on these Special Edition cards, each carrying a Rookie badge and forming part of the rare cards pool for the 2023-2024 season. The unique selling point of these NBA Draft Special Edition cards? A 10% XP bonus throughout the 2023-2024 season.

First-ever Licensed NBA Draft NFTs by Sorare

These NBA Draft Special Edition NFT cards hold a distinctive place in history as the first-ever licensed digital collectibles of the top 5 picks at the National Basketball Association draft. The auctions also signal the start of Sorare’s second season as the Official NFT Fantasy Partner of the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).

Last season, Jalen Williams of Oklahoma City Thunder was the rookie who scored the most Sorare points, totalling 1328. It is a benchmark that Wembanyama and his fellow rookies will aim to surpass. As for popularity, the top three positions were clinched by Nic Claxton (Brooklyn Nets), Luka Dončić (Dallas Mavericks), and Giannīs Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks).

Nicolas Julia, CEO and co-founder of Sorare, spoke on the matter: “As a French NBA fan, I followed this year’s draft with great interest. It’s been an exciting start to what should be another great season in the NBA – the second during which we’ve been proud partners. As part of our partnership with the NBA, we’re delighted to launch new Special Edition Rare cards of the top 5 draft pick players ahead of the coming 2023-24 season.”

Solid Sorare Foundation

In 2018, Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort established Sorare in Paris with a vision to bridge the gap between sports enthusiasts worldwide and the players, teams, and leagues they adore.

Sorare has partnerships with 300 organizations and clubs across several leagues and has already seen success with their NFT-based football game, bringing new life into fan engagement. Having already partnered with the English Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, each player in Sorare is transformed into a unique digital collectible, an NFT minted on the Ethereum blockchain.

The uniqueness and scarcity of these cards mirror traditional football trading cards, offering the same excitement of buying, selling, or trading. But Sorare doesn’t stop there. It further elevates the experience by letting you assemble your fantasy squad using these cards, setting the stage for intense competition in a variety of matches and tournaments.
